Recently, the Yadkin Valley InnovateUMC team hosted it's first TRUTH Café - True Relationship Uniting Transformed Hearts - between Centenary UMC and St. Paul UMC, both in Winston-Salem. The idea for a TRUTH Café came from the vision to bring together churches of different ethnicities that seek to break down racial and other barriers to further their common missions. The TRUTH Café model serves as a platform for crucial conversations that speak truth to power and privilege around racism, bias and demographic differences. In addition, the program gives churches the opportunity to develop action items between congregations for moving forward to be catalysts for reconciliation and justice in their churches and the communities they serve.

Participants in the first TRUTH Café expressed hope that through these programs, the "church may be an instrument for breaking down the walls of racism". With the support of the Western NC Conference Justice and Reconciliation Team and The Duke Endowment, Boundless Impact will partner with districts to host TRUTH Cafés throughout western North Carolina in the coming year.
